Flight tests often require the adaption of the test equipment to the requirements of the test program. This starts with the installation of sensors and ends with the installation of safety equipment such as spin recovery parachute. The experience from many flight test campaigns for the CTLS, the MC and CTSL of Flight Design, helps us even at the flight tests for our own developments, such as the step for skydivers or the different versions of the Cargopod.
Spin recovery parachute
At flight test campaigns for spin testing it can come to very unusual situations, what are hard or no to recover with the standard flight controls. The spin recovery parachute is used in these situations for the stabilisation and recovery of the spinning aircraft - at first for the safety of the test pilot. The parachute was initially developed for the flight tests of the Flight Design CTLS.
